SENSITIZE STUDENTS ON DRUG ABUSE
The corps members from the Drug Free Community Development
Service (CDS) group of Iwo Local Government have sensitized the students of Iwo
High School on drug abuse and their corresponding effects.
The sensitization came up as a result of the menace of drug
abuse in the society, specifically among the youths. Members of the group urged
the students to avoid drug abuse as it can mar their future.
They enlightened them on the background information about
the processes and production of both the medicinal and hard drugs, hence
alerting them on the side effects of the two. The CDS group further emphasized
that the effects of drug abuse often accompany mental, psychological and
behavioral changes.
Prior to this, the team employed a strategic method by using
banner which was tagged “DRUGS DRAG YOU DOWN” for effective communication. They
also shared resources that will enhance
the knowledge of the students on the negative effects of drug abuse.
In the meantime, the CDS group complemented the movement by
donating exercise books to the pupils as a developmental project that will
motivate them to study, thus becoming future leaders.
