Avoid Road Traffic Crash- FRSC CDS Sensitizes Pedestrians
The corps members from the Federal Road Safety Corps Community Development Service (CDS) group of Osogbo Local Government have sensitized the students of Ataoja Government High School on the roles of pedestrians in ensuring safety on the road.
The Cadet-In-Chief FRSC CDS group, Cadet Farouq Oyekanmi disclosed the aim of the sensitization. He said, "the aim of this sensitization is to enlighten people on how to reduce the rate of road traffic crash popularly known as accident to the barest minimum, and how to safe guard the road".
However, the students were enlightened on the types of road traffic signs and how to identify them (with their color code). According to the facilitator, Miss Victoria Adegbami revealed that there are three major types of road traffic signs including the Warning sign (triangular in shape with white or yellow background and white inscription), the Mandatory sign (rectangular in shape with green background and a black inscription) and the Regulatory sign which can be prohibitive (Circular in shape with yellow or black background and black inscription) or Mandatory (Circular in shape with blue background and a black inscription).Prior to this, the CDS group also displayed before the students various examples of road traffic signs and what they signify. Amongst them were traffic light, right bend, no right turn, no left turn, roundabout, line merge ahead, hump ahead to mention a few.In an interview with a grade 10 student of the school, Usamotu Ibrahim said, "I knew only one traffic sign (traffic light) before today, but now I know a lot of road traffic sign which I will love to share with my friends" .In spite of this, the CDS group finally emphasized that they are determined to keep the good work up by constant sensitisation of their host community.
