YouWIN SENSITISES OSUN CORPS MEMBERS ON SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The Federal Government of Nigeria via The Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWIN) has organized an enterprise education workshop and book distribution for the 2019 NYSC Batch B stream II Corps Members deployed to Osun State.
The workshop which was initiated by Godoona Petroleum and Energy Services Ltd in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Finance, took place on Monday 2nd September 2019 at the Multipurpose hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
The workshop was aimed at sensitizing corps members deployed to the State on successful entrepreneurship and the role of the government in aiding potential entrepreneurs.
While enlightening the corps members about the objectives of the YouWIN Connect, Mrs. Catherine Otemuyiwa who gave the address on behalf of the team, introduced the team members of YouWIN led by Mr. Fadason Kujamah Adamu, from the Federal Ministry of Finance Project Department GIS (YouWIN connect). She further highlighted the objectives of the initiative while stating that the YouWIN Connect is a multimedia and youth development programme, established by the Federal Government to identify and aid the growth of Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) amongst the youth in Nigeria.
Accordingly, she stated that since inception, the programme has birthed over 3900 enterprises while sighting examples of individuals Like Mrs Tara Durotoye, Founder and CEO of House of Tara, and other influential Nigerians who are an offspring of the programme.
Furthermore, She stated that the YouWin is a programme implemented by the Government to address the core challenges with youth's small and medium scale businesses.
Subsequently, she advised the Corps members to take advantage of the NYSC’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme in order not to depend on the government for white collar jobs.
Highlight of the event was the distribution of the book titled “successful Nigerian Entrepreneurs; How they started” which was accompanied by a photo session, after which the corps members were served with refreshment courtesy the YouWIN connect team.
