PLATOON 8 EMERGE CHAMPIONS OF THE INTERPLATOON FOOTBALL COMPETITION: EDGE PAST PLATOON 4 IN A 1-NIL THRILLER
PLATOON 8 EMERGE CHAMPIONS OF THE INTERPLATOON FOOTBALL COMPETITION: EDGE PAST PLATOON 4 IN A 1-NIL THRILLER.
The interplatoon sports competitions for the 2019 Batch B stream II orientation course drew to a close on Friday 5th of September as players of platoons 4 and 8 took to the pitch at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State, to compete for the most coveted trophy on camp.
Platoon 4 who qualified for the finals via straight knockout method had swept past Platoons 7 and 3 defeating both Platoons 2-nil each while platoon 8 painstakingly qualified for the finals having gone through the playoffs putting both platoons 2 and 5 to the sword.
The State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke and other dignitaries witnessed Platoon 8 emerging as winners of the 2019 Batch B stream II football competition playing the final against a worthy opponent in Platoon 4.
The sports activity for the evening opened with an entertaining novelty match that featured the camp officials known as the red devils and selected female corps members known as the white angels. The red devils displayed good athleticism with the white angels also looking to take no chances themselves. The game ended 1-0 in favour of the red devils as an early mistake from the white angels proved costly.
The presentation of the awards was a magnificent showpiece as well as awards were presented to platoon 8 for first prize, Platoon four for second position and Platoon six for the third spot. Awards were also presented for the volleyball competition in which Platoon 10 emerged victorious.
