SAED HOLDS COLORFUL CLOSING CEREMONY AND SKILLS EXHIBITION
To celebrate the successful completion of the 10 days in-camp Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training, a colourful closing ceremony was held on Friday, the 6th of September, 2019 at the Osun State Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
The Head of SAED, Mrs. Olutayo Samuel, in her opening remarks, appreciated God and every camp official who contributed to the programme's success. She highlighted the 18 skill sets offered during the training and reminded corps members of the need to pursue a mastery of their chosen skill through the post-camp training.
Furthermore, the State Coordinator, Mr. Ayodele Adegoke, who officially closed the in-camp training programme expressed his delight upon the display of the various skill sets. He urged corps members to maximise SAED in the post-camp training just as past corps members had done. He cited the examples of serving corps members who presently run successful poultry and vegetable farms and even supply their products to the camp.
Next up was the exhibition of SAED products which corps members made. Featured in the exhibition were 18 highly profitable skill sets, with members of each class showcasing the various skills learnt and products produced during the exercise. The 10 platoons had the opportunity of competing in 7 of the skill sets which included cosmetology, leather works, food processing, tie and dye, tailoring, interior decoration, and bead making.
The chief judge of the competition, Mrs. Olawale Veronica, announced the winners in each skill set competed in after which they were presented with gifts by various camp officials. Some participants got to sell their wares to the camp officials present.
To round up the event, corps members through the vote of thanks expressed their gratitude to NYSC and SAED for equipping them with such skills that would enable them become self-sufficient entrepreneurs in the nearest future. The subtle note of the day was 'Entrepreneurship is the future. Begin now!'
