‘JOIN HANDS IN MANAGING DISASTER’ -NEMA Urges Corps Members.
In a bid to cushion the effects of natural disasters in Nigeria, the Nation Emergency Agency (NEMA) has teamed up with the NYSC to educate corps members on the need to join hands in curbing and managing emergencies.
While speaking at a lecture recently held at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State, the NEMA spokesperson, Mr. Olakunle Johnson intimated the Batch B stream II corps members on the responsibilities of the Agency, while stating their duty as first responders to emergency cases with emphasis on natural disasters.
Speaking further on cases in which the Agency had helped in curtailing the effects of emergencies such as flood, he noted that natural disasters are bound to occur. Thus, he educated the corps members on safety tips, preventive measures and the roles they had to play in managing emergent situations.
Rounding off the lecture session, Mr. Olakunle introduced the corps members to the NEMA Community Development Service (CDS) group, while urging them to make positive Impacts by joining hands to tackle emergency cases in the country.
In response, some of the Corps Members took the initiative, as they signed up to be Vanguards of the Agency.
