COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BRANCH ENLIGHTENS CORPS MEMBERS
Recently, giant steps have been taken by the Community Development Service Branch of the NYSC Osun State in tackling the challenges of dwindling community development-based services and projects in the State.
The Head of the Branch, Mr Kayode Ola-Peters and members of the branch embarked on aggressive sensitisation and enlightenment campaigns across the State.
Addressing corps members in Ife Central and Ife North local government areas on Thursday, 8th August, 2019, Kayode stressed on the need for corps members to leave a lasting footprint in the sands of time by embarking on meaningful and impactful community development-based services in their host communities.
According to Kayode "the community development service is the third cardinal programme of the national service which is geared towards rendering selfless service to the community.
"it is also geared towards effective enlightenment and mobilisation of a community and its resources in meeting the felt needs of the community, thereby developing leadership skills in the corps members involved" he added.
Ola-Peters further posited that the CDS is an effective tool in self actualisation and development and therefore called on the members to embark on more community based projects as the local governments and collaborating agencies have pledged more support for the scheme especially in the areas of CDS projects.
The programme ended with the sensitisation, enlistment and inauguration of the U-report vanguards in both local governments.
