Corps Members Host Trash Challenge in Osogbo

Residents of Osogbo Local Government Area have been educated on the need for proper disposal of waste in their surroundings in order to build a healthy environment for habitation.

This was brought to the fore during a sensitization program carried out by corps members in Osogbo Local Government Area.

The sensitization program, which had its theme as "Trash Challenge 2019" had over 12 CDS groups in attendance as corps members portrayed good examples by picking waste disposals in the course of the program.

The coordinator of the sensitization program, Mr Endurance Benson, enjoined the residents to dispose waste properly in order to maintain a hygienic environment devoid of germs.

Mr Benson noted that a hygienic environment will produce a healthy people free from sickness which will in turn produce a safe environment for all and sundry.

He called on the Osun State Government to create agencies that will checkmate inappropriate disposal of waste in the state as this will encourage residents to be more conscious of waste disposal in their environment.

Mr Endurance Benson urged residents as well as motorists to imbibe the habit of keeping trash cans closeby in order to encourage healthy disposal of waste.

The sensitization program which commenced at Osogbo Local Government in Oke Baale, led corps members to the areas of Old garage as well as the popular Orisumbare and Igbono markets respectively.

In response, residents offered items such as brooms, waste bags, gloves, and other cleaning aids to show their support to the exercise carried out by corps members in the local government.
