NEMA CDS Sensitizes Traders on Flood Management

Corps members of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) CDS sensitize traders at Oke-Baale Market, Oshogbo on Flood Management. The sensitization which took place on Thursday, 25th April, 2019 was led by Mr. Olanrewaju Isaiah, the President, NEMA CDS.
Speaking in their native dialect, Mr. Ahmed Toheeb, the first speaker also from the NEMA CDS educated the traders on the causes of flooding and various ways to avert the negative effects in the market. He pointed out illegal dumping of refuses and wastes in gutters as one of the major causes. With references to flooding incidences which threatened lives and destroyed many properties in Ondo and Kwara two years back, he advised the market leaders to construct bigger gutters in order to avoid similar occurrences.
Also speaking at the event, Mutair Tolulope, a corps member further emphasized that indiscriminate dumping of refuse in gutters and displacement of plastic bottle; nylons etc, by the roadsides should be stopped.
The Baba Oloja (Elder) of the market, Mr. Oladipo Muftau was also in attendance and helped assembled the traders together to ensure a smooth sensitization.
