Corps members cannot wear jean trousers to schools in Osun
On 6th April, at the NYSC multipurpose hall, Ede, Mrs Adeboye Esther, the Head of gender and female hostel on camp informed the 2019 Batch 'A' corps members that female corps members are not allowed to wear jean trousers to schools in the State of Osun.
She made this known while delivering a lecture on teaching methodology which is aimed at helping corps members who will be posted to the educational sector of the state. In her lecture, she warned male corps members to be wary of the female school students no matter how tempting they may be, as over familiarity with them could spell trouble for the male corps members.
In addition, she counseled corps members to avoid punishing their students by using corporal methods. Instead, she advised them to show love and motivate the students to learn. Furthermore, she emphasized on the role of parents in supervising the improvement of their children after school.
Nevertheless, she showed the proper way to teach pupils or secondary school students when she educated the 2019 Batch A corps members on what she called Textbook method which is nothing but to prepare the lecture beforehand, to go through the textbook and rehearse in order to deliver the objective of the lesson.
Mrs. Esther categorised the textebook method into four which are Dramatisation where corps members have to dramatise the lecture for students to understand, Citation method in cases where corps members teach poetry, Trip method when corps members have to teach students outside school with the approval of the school management and Group methods when corps members need to divide their class into groups headed by a governor and a secretary.
For corps members who are going to be posted to higher institutions, she taught them the Lecture method which is usually adopted in universities. This method consists of teaching or pouring one's knowledge on students who are believed to be mature. At the end of the lecture, she encouraged corps members not to emulate the attitude of marking their students zero in lieu, it is preferable to just cross the assignment.
