SHUN CORRUPTION AND VIOLENCE IN ELECTION PROCESS, STATE GOVERNOR WARNS YOUTH

The Governor, State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has implored corps members and youths in general to ensure that the nation enjoys credible, free and violence-free election.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Hon Titi Laye-Tomori made the imploration during a town hall meeting organised by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in partnership with Konard Adenauer Stiftung(KAS) in Oshogbo.

Speaking on "the Benefits of Violence-Free Elections", the governor who stated that  youths bear the larger burden that comes with a violent election, appealed to youths who would officiate in the forth coming election to frown at any form of corruption.

He urged them to avoid been used as thugs by any politician to perpetrate evil and carry out selfish goals .

In his welcome address, the State Civil Defence Commandant, Mr Abdullahi Muhammadu, said the aim of the gathering was to tackle issues that erupt  during election period as people are always afraid of the before, during and after election period which is not  so in advanced countries. .

Also speaking a representative of INEC, Ahlaji Adewuyi promised that the commission would ensure a good election education for the electorates and guide youths against being used to engage in violence during the election.
