LEGAL AID GROUP SET TO RENDER ASSISTANCE TO PRISON INMATES

The legal aid group of osogbo local government area, Osun state, in an attempt to render free legal assistance to indigent people, has visited inmates of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Ilesha in the state.
In an interview with our correspondent, the president of the group, Mr Sikiru Idris, said the move was part of their community development service, stating that they were specifically at the prison because of inmates charged with minor cases.
Also speaking with our correspondent, was one of the inmates, miss Mercy Foluso, who narrated how she got to the prison.
The nineteen-year-old lady therefore pleaded with the legal aid group to help her gain freedom.
Meanwhile, Some inmates with minor cases were made to fill the Legal aid application form which the lawyers took for necessary legal actions.
Responding to the visit, the deputy Controller of Prisons, Mr Ope Fatinikun, who was represented by Assistant controller of prisons, Mr Charles Oyewole, expressed joy over the visit and thanked the group for the gift items presented to the inmates.
