Bemoaning the havoc of drug abuse, members of Drug Free and Quality Control, DFQC, CDS group have sensitised the public on its menace.
The sensitization began with a walk from Olorunda Local Government Area, Osogbo, the state capital, with a display of the CDS group banner and sensitisation posters.
While the walk was ongoing, the sensitization team moved closer to persons and shops, enlightening them on the dangers of patronizing drug hawkers, stating that such drugs have potentials of expiring even before the expiration date.
The president of the group, Mr Shalom Bala, in his address, stated that most drug hawkers, due to the adverse conditions they are subjected to, have the possibility of patronizing fake drugs.
He noted that as these hawkers do not have license to purchase drugs in licensed pharmaceuticals, they go to places of little resistance, where possibility of substandard drugs is inevitable.
He added "There is also danger of receiving wrong prescriptions as hawkers are inexperienced to give appropriate prescriptions"
