NYSC STATE COORDINATOR URGES YOUTHS TO BELIEVE IN SCHEME

-May 30, 2018

The Osun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mr Emmanuel Attah, has called on youths to have confidence in the scheme and Nigeria as a whole.

Mr Attah made this call in his opening address at a rally organized to mark the 45th year anniversary of the scheme at the NYSC Secretariat, Omo west, Oshogbo.

Expressing his satisfaction on the scheme’s establishment, the state coordinator said he is glad that NYSC has stood a test of time in reintegrating people of diverse cultures, as one of its goals at the aftermath of Nigerian civil war.

He said “the NYSC is a child of circumstance, the aftermath of the Nigerian civil war between 1967 and 1970 and was established to achieve purposes which are : reconstruction, rehabilitation and reconciliation”

Speaking with  editorial CDS group correspondent, Mr Attah said “I am happy and proud to be part of the NYSC scheme and I can say that it is the only structure that has fulfilled the dream of its founding fathers, which is national integration.”

The state coordinator added that the scheme has gone further in tackling the unemployment level of the youths by engaging them in skills acquisitions programmes  that will empower them after the service year.

He enjoined the youths to keep encouraging the scheme morally through sensitizations and medical outreach in their host communities.

Speaking on the forthcoming election in the state, Mr Attah said the scheme will continue to take active roles in electoral process and urged corps members to avoid being used as tools to cause electoral havoc.

The rally took off earlier today from the NYSC state secretariat, Omo West down to Igbonna, Osogbo, and was graced by several NYSC officials, security agents and corps members.
