In a bid to eradicate illiteracy in the society, the National Library of Nigeria, has charged corps members to embrace reading culture.
Speaking during a campaign organised for corps members at Olorunda Local Government Area, the head, National Library of Nigeria, Osogbo branch, Mr B.A Salawu, implored corps members to visit libraries, in order to acquaint themselves with happenings in the society.
Stating the benefits of reading, Mr Salawu urged corps members to revive lost reading culture by organising debates and other learning activities in their various places of primary assignments.
He however, noted that the agency has reached out to the government to train teachers and equip schools with adequate facilities that will improve teaching skills.
In another development, corps members enjoined the agency to upgrade the reading materials in various libraries across the country, just as they urged government to extend the campaign to tertiary institutions.
