OSUN 2022 GUBER POLLS: NYSC DG URGES CORPS MEMBERS TO PATRIOTICALLY DISCHARGE DUTIES
The NYSC DG, Brigadier General MK Fadah has urged Corps members to set aside their political leaning and inclination as they discharge their electoral duties.
He made this known while addressing Corps members at the Olorunda LGA Electoral Mobilisation Centre, Osogbo, on Saturday.
Enlightening the Corps members on the do's and don'ts guiding their participation in the election, he urged them to be non-partisan in their conducts.
"Whether as PO', APO' or whatever be your role, the nation at large expects you to execute your responsibilities without fear or favour. Do not pre-sign or stamp ballot papers but rather at the point of issuance," he said.
He restated the Scheme's commitment to Corps members' well-being and security, urging them to leverage on the various hotlines and handles of relevant security agencies as well as those of the Scheme's Monitoring Unit.
The topmost NYSC Boss emphasized that Corps members' participation in elections has significantly improved election conduct's success and urged them to display high-level integrity and patriotism as they carry out their responsibilities.
He rolled out a number of security tips to the teeming youths, advising them not to personally react to security concerns but rather leave that job to security agents who are professionally trained to do so.
While rounding-up, he denounced the existence of Corps members' immunity or protection from criminal prosecution, warning them to stay clear of improper behaviours and acts.
Corps members have been drawn from the 30 Local Government Areas in Osun State to conduct elections in varying official capacities. The Gubernatorial Election took place on Saturday, 16th of July, 2022 and across hundreds of polling units in Osun State.
Corps members participation comes on the heels of extensive and hands-on INEC trainings that spanned 3-days and wrapped up by an electoral sensitization event by officials of the NYSC Scheme both at the National and State level.
As part of the DG's focal points, which stressed on the welfare of Corps members, the DG, Brig. Gen. MK Fadah, Departmental Directors, NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka, Management team of the Scheme, Zonal and Local Government Inspectors were on ground to ensure the safety of the Scheme's members and to also monitor the success of the exercise across the State.
Alhaji Ahidjo Yahya, Deputy Director of Corps Welfare and Health Services, NDHQ, during the sensitization program in Osogbo and Olorunda LGA reasserted the electoral etiquettes and rules that the Corps members' are expected to adhere to before, during and after the poll.
Analysing data from various quarters, Corps members largely adhered to rules and regulations guiding electoral conduct in Nigeria.
In Osogbo and Olorunda polling units, corps members were seen exhibiting topnotch uprightness and devotion as they carry out their duties. The photos attached speak for themselves.
