"RELATIONSHIP IS KEY TO AN EFFECTIVE JOB CAREER" - Orunile
Mr Kolade Orunile, resource personnel from the International College of Safety and Management Professional, ICSMP, has admonished the outgoing Batch A stream 1 corps members on how to build lasting and impactful relationships as they venture out into the labour market.
He delivered the lecture while addressing the corps members at the Job Advisory and Counselling programme, JAC, which held on Friday, 11th of February, 2022 at the Osogbo Local Government Secretariat.
Starting his speech, he congratulated the corps members on making it to the finish line of their service year, stating that it's not a small feat. He encouraged them to take the lecture seriously as it holds tangible information that will help them in their journey after NYSC.
Mr Kolade explained explicitly the meaning of a job; saying that it is what we do that brings opportunities, satisfaction, engagement, meaningful impact and gives livelihood.
"Do not think about the money you are going to be making at the initial stage, but rather look for ways to contribute your quota and stand out; identify problems and proffer solutions to them" he continued.
Furthermore, he elaborated on tips that would assist them in choosing a good career path; being exposed to the right information, identifying with people who are moral boosters, maximizing social media platforms, believing in one's self and nurturing relationships.
"Consistency is a key factor that will keep you relevant in your career path and also do not lose yourself," he said as he rounded up his speech.
Earlier in his welcome speech, Mr Lawal Kehinde, the Osogbo zonal Inspector welcomed all guests and corps members to the programme. He said that the programme is meant to sensitize and give guidelines concerning the expectations outside NYSC.
"Listen attentively, ask questions, be orderly and organise yourselves," he said, also stating that the programme is going on simultaneously in all states of the federation.
The Assistant Director Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Branch, Mr Aleshinloye Adeniyi who was represented by Mrs Olowo Abosede enjoined the corps members to be happy and grateful to God for the gift of life. "You started well, you will end well; compose and conduct yourself properly and be sure to gain something" she added.
Other highlights of the programme was a question and answer session led by the Olorunda LG Inspector, Mr Olatunji Segun, while the corps liaison officer of the Osogbo local government area gave the vote of thanks.
The programme also held simultaneously in Ikirun, Ilesa and Ife zone.
