SHOKPEKA APPRAISES CORPS MEMBERS ENDURANCE AND RESILIENCE
The State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shopeka has congratulated the 2021 Batch C Stream 2 corps members for being resilient and enduring throughout their stay in the Orientation camp.
She made this known while debriefing the corps members on Monday, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
She congratulated them on their excellent conduct during the Orientation Course and reminded them to take responsibility for their lives on a daily basis.
While encouraging the corps members, she urged them to remain security conscious as they travel to their respective places of primary assignment or state of redeployment.
"Vehicles will be coming from all the Local Governments of Osun State, immediately you pick up your posting letter, check the exact location and be sure you're going to the right place", she added.
As she progressed, she urged every corps member to to take their community development service attendance seriously, ensure to be in attendance once weekly. She reminded the corps members that monthly and quarterly inspections would be carried out both by the Directorate Headquarters Abuja and the State Secretariat, therefore, any default would be costly.
Also, she sensitized them on the COVID-19 protocols, saying that the vaccine isn't a death sentence and as such corps members should take advantage of it as it is provided on a platter of gold.
"You're expected to be good COVID-19 vanguards and sensitize your host community on the need to wear their nose masks, wash their hands regularly and keep social distance".
Winifred further charged them not to let go of their SAED training but rather continue it and embrace it wholly. "You must note that there is no specific days for SAED, do it at your leisure time. Do not use the hours you are supposed to be at work or CDS meetings for your SAED.
" Your leisure times and weekends can be utilised to hon your skills. Don't run foul of the laid down rules and regulations guiding the service year", she added.
Speaking on the upcoming election, Shokpeka charged the members to be worthy ambassadors of their families and the Scheme by ensuring that they carry out their election duties well as they maybe called upon soon to prepare for the gubernatorial elections coming up next year. She also cautioned them not to take the law into their own hands especially during the elections as they would be called on to serve in some capacity.
She concluded by advising corps members to be patient, diligent and willing to work at any place they are posted to, as the NYSC has their best interest at heart.
Other highlights of the debriefing included introduction of the zonal inspectors and local government inspectors to the corps members.
