A SKILL IS A PLUS TO YOUR CERTIFICATION - AD SAED

The Head of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, Mr Aleshinloye Adeniyi has enlightened the prospective corps members that having a skill is a huge plus to their certificates and therefore it is imperative they get one.

Mr Aleshinloye who was represented by Mrs Olowo Abosede, made this known while speaking during the morning meditation at the NYSC Permanent Orientation camp, Ede, on Saturday.

In her speech, she enlightened the PCMs on the basics of the SAED program, listing out the goals of the scheme, which is to alleviate poverty amongst youths and also to give an edge to their certifications.

She informed the PCMs on the skills in the SAED program and noted about eighty sub sections of the program. "Getting skills is an addition to your certificates and helps to increase your income generating streams" she added.

Furthermore, she encouraged them to engage fully in the SAED program as they can acquire loans and grants from financial institutions to start up their businesses.

On Health, Dr Kameel Aramide, educated the PCMs on Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) which is the backup, or reflux, of stomach acids and juices into the esophagus that can wear away the lining of the esophagus and cause sores called ulcers.

Speaking further, he advised PCMs to rest especially now that they are in camp and that they should eat on time so as to reduce the effect of the stomach acid. "Take your medications religiously and drink three to four liters of water daily" he added.

Mrs Funmi Okundaye, the Camp Director, urged the members to conform to the dress code especially those just arriving the camp.

She encouraged them to keep the camp rating high by maintaining the order, serenity and cleanliness within the premises, she enjoined them not to be found loitering around the camp market when activities are ongoing. She concluded by leading the PCMs on the daily charge and declaration.

The meditation ended with a series of aerobics led by the Man O' War and a meditation on the topic 'Courage".
