AVOID NIGHT TRAVELS - NYSC DIRECTOR GENERAL ADMONISHES PCMs.
The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has warned against night travel by Prospective Corps Members (PCMs). This he stated in his virtual address to the PCMs on Friday.
Again, he cautioned them to be security conscious at all times and to abstain from indulging in unsafe practices such as night travel and unauthorised travelings in light of the security challenges in the country.
He also urged them to stay true to the oath taken upon being sworn in as Corps members and to uphold the values of discipline, patriotism, commitment, courage, and obedience to constituted authority.
Furthermore, the Director General admonished them to cherish their integrity and avoid cutting corners in life. He implored them to work diligently and selflessly in their respective Places of Primary Assignment (PPA), as this would make them successful individuals.
Speaking on Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program, he urged the PCMs to take advantage of the scheme which has been designed to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country through skill acquisition and self reliance. He implored them to take advantage of those opportunities presented to them in camp and to participate actively in all camp activities.
He also informed the PCMs about the Youth Trust Fund program of the Federal Government as well as the National Young Farmers skill; a platform for Young individuals who are interested in Agriculture.
In concluding his address, the DG admonished the PCMs to make good and wise use of the social media to promote national unity and NYSC's integrity.
"Use the social media wisely and positively to promote peace and unity not hatred. Always get correct information about the scheme from the official social media platforms of the NYSC.
"Every country has problems but they turn their problems into opportunities, let us do same in our country. Let us turn our problems to opportunities.
"Change your mindset. Take advantage of the NYSC as a platform and the sky will be your limit".
Speaking on the COVID-19 vaccine, the DG added that the vaccine is not compulsory but advised that the members should embrace the vaccine in other to ensure their safety.
"It took us a lot of confidence, courage, discipline and patriotism to be where we are today. Therefore as members of the scheme,
be ready to learn from your colleagues, among you are leaders of tomorrow. Ensure you have very good records at the end of the service year" he said.
