PUBLIC RELATIONS CREATES FAVOURABLE PUBLIC IMAGE- MRS OKUNDAYE

The Assistant Director. Press and Public Relations Unit, Mrs Okundaye Funmi Rachel has told the 2021 Batch A Stream 1 corps members that Public Relations is the channel through which a favourable public image of a person or an organization is created and it aids in creating and sustaining a cordial relationship with the publics of the organization.

Okundaye explained that the PPRU is a unit that is directly under the Director General and the State Coordinator at the National and State level respectively.

The Assistant Director outlined the three sub units under the public relations to include: publicity, publication and new media.

She further stated that the mandate of the public relations officers during orientation programs is information dissemination, enlightenment and entertainment.

Aside this, they also handle the scheme's publications in the State. Some publications handled by the unit include: the Service Guide, Newsletters and the end of service year magazine.

Again, she spoke to the Corps members on the procedure to follow when they lose documents such as the NYSC Identity card.

In addition, she disclosed that the P. R unit plays a supervisory role to the NYSC dedicated TV and radio programmes and the Editorial and Freedom of Information CDS groups in the State.

Finally she enjoined the Corps members to join the editorial team in ensuring that corps members activities in their host communities are given wide publicity and coverage in order to enhance the relevance of the scheme.
