"VIGILANCE SHOULD ALWAYS BE YOUR WATCHWORD"- DSS BOSS
Mr Damjay Jiyaba of the Department of State Service (DSS), Osun State Command, has told the 2020 Batch B Stream 2 prospective corps members that vigilance should be their watchword if they want to experience a successful service year.
He stated this while addressing the members at the early morning security lecture for members of platoon 1-5 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, On Friday. Mr Damjay made it known to the prospective corps members that security is everyone's business and should be taken seriously.
He further enjoined them to be aware of their surroundings, especially their immediate environment and try to familiarize themselves with the people of their host communities in order to understand and identify possible threats in the environment.
Subsequently, he highlighted some security tips that corps members should take cognizance of to stay safe.
"Never buy used phones and avoid putting sensitive information on social media.
"Avoid the habit of leaving your house keys under your footmat" he said.
Conclusively, he warned the members against engaging in political activities at their host community and also desist from any form of Unionism, as this may pose a serious threats to them.
