TOPIC : UNEMPLOYMENT ; the real "wahala for bicycle"

 

This is a very common place to hear this street-wise advice in the local Nigerian parlance. ‘’wahala be like bicycle’’. When we get perplexed by any concern whatsoever , intensity regardless. 

For starters when you try to ride a bicycle, whichsoever comes first to you is the first attempt, you’re looking at the wrong places and this is the same for every new fresh graduate coming out from any higher institution across the federation. Firstly you sit on the saddle with so much fear, you don’t trust the bi-wheel which supports your weight, scared of the what lies beyond the horizon and vast planes of plenty in front of you. Life they say begins after NYSC, which also brings out the street acronym which implies NYSC - Now Your Suffer Continues. 

The society we live in today has no regards for your qualification or academic achievement which makes it much more difficult for a graduate with the highest qualificaion to get a good job in any government parastatals or agencies. 

This is the major reason why most graduates choose to be either self employed or find an entrepreneurship skill to support themselves just to earn a living.

However, when you start to get a little confidence ridding or running a business, it becomes second nature and this is where most people stop improving, at both riding a bicycle or running a business.

At this point, you can afford to take your eyes off the pedal, you can wave at few people, employ a few people, you can look at the spokes, tyres, chains and ball-rings, gulp some liquids and grab a mouthful. You’re confident enough to look at the road ahead of you. In essence unemployment itself is really a menace to the society at large which is largely dependent on our bad government.
