NCDC IS THE ONLY AUTHORIZED BODY TO DISCLOSE COVID-19 STATUS- MR ADEGOKE
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke has told the camp officials and other collaborative agencies that NCDC is the only authorized body to disclose the COVID-19 status of any corps member or official.
He stated this during the maiden meeting at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ede, Osun, on Monday.
According to Mr Adegoke, the result of COVID-19 is kept confidential and third party is not authorized to disclose the status of any tested corps member or camp official, stressing that it is solely the duty of NCDC, as disclosing the result of the tested corps member by unauthorized body may affect the patient psychologically.
He further told the officials that the swearing in ceremony of the 2020 Batch B Stream 2 corps members will be lowkey and in line with NCDC guidelines due to the second wave of the COVID-19 which is more dangerous than the first wave.
Speaking further, he emphasized on the need for every camp official to show good example and be a role model to the corps members by adhering to the COVID-19 preventive protocols which are; regular usage of facemasks, hand sanitizers, Washing of hands, and obeying rules of social distancing.
Subsequently, he told the camp officials that no religious gathering will be accommodated which is a strict directive from the Director General of NYSC Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim which is channeled towards ensuring that everyone on camp stays safe.
Also, he disclosed that COVID-19 monitoring and enforcement team has been established to aid in enforcing the strict compliance to COVID-19 preventive protocols and the corps volunteers would be inaugurated three days into the orientation programme for the smooth and effective running of the orientation camp.
Meanwhile, the camp director, Mr Aleshinloye Adeniyi who also spoke during the meeting, told the security personnel to be careful and vigilant and ensure they check the bags of the prospective corps members to ensure dangerous weapons and drugs are not in their possession.
He further told the hostel management to ensure that no Corps member stays behind in hostel during NYSC Lectures.
Also speaking, the Resident Officer1, Mrs Adewale Florence, charged all camp officials to take the messages of the State Coordinator seriously in order to have a smooth orientation programme.
Conclusively, she told the camp officials to be careful of what they post on social media and avoid over familiarizing with the corps members as it may pose a threat to their jobs.
