Mrs Otemuyiwa Enlightens Corps Members on the Freedom of Information Act

The NYSC Osun State Desk Officer for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Mrs Catherine Otemuyiwa has on Wednesday enlightened  the 2020 Batch A and B Stream 1A corps members on the Freedom of Information Act at the multipurpose hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State.

According to Otemuyiwa, the freedom of Information Act was put in place to grant citizens access to  government records and information and the right to request for such records.

She further stated that the  role of FOIA is to give access to public information as well as demand transparency and openness in governance thereby breeding trust and more citizenship participation in governance.

Subsequently, she explained that as much as FOIA encourages openness in government activities, it protects personal and security information of Citizens as well as encourage proactive disclosure.

In Conclusion, she encouraged Corps members to make their presence known by joining the vanguard to sensitize the people of their host community and create awareness about their rights on access to Information.
