NYSC Through SAED Programme Closes Door of Joblessness and Poverty- Adegoke

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Ayodele Adegoke has revealed to the 2020 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 corps members that Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme closes door of joblessness and poverty.

Adegoke made the statement during the SAED flag off programme at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State.


During his address, he acknowledged the efforts of the corps members who have previously participated in the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship in-camp and post-camp trainings, stating that their good works are channeled towards eradicating unemployment and poverty in Nigeria.


He further urged the corps members to renew their focus and redefine their goals and aspirations by embracing the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development training.

He therefore enjoined the corps members to choose from one of the twelve (12) skill set programmed in the skills acquisition training which includes; Agro-allied, Automobile, beautification, construction, cosmetology, culture and tourism, education among others.



Speaking earlier,  the Head of SAED,  Mrs Femi-Ajayi Oluwafunmilayo enjoined the members to leverage on the platform provided by the scheme for them to become self-reliant. According to her,  the SAED programme since inception has succeeded in training graduate entrepreneurs some of whom today have become self employed today while some others have become employers of labour.


She urged the corps members to add value to themselves through the programme and thereby break the burden of unemployment experienced in the country.

Meanwhile, Mr. Rasak Oyekanmi from the National Directorate of Employment, motivated the corps members while delivering the entrepreneurship development lecture. In his note, he said “entrepreneurs are the shakers and movers of our economy”


He also added that entrepreneurs are creative and innovative in their administration, and that National Directorate of Employment are megaphone and tools of Federal Government to tackle the issue of unemployment.



Testimonies by serving corps members,  mini-exhibition of products made by serving corps members and introduction of some of the trainers in the state were some of the highlights of the event.
