Lassa Fever: Agro-Allied CDS Group Enlightens Iree Community's Meat Sellers

The Agro-Allied Community Development Service group has stormed Iree Community market in Boripe local government area, Osun State on Wednesday to sensitize meat sellers on the preservation of meats as well as how to prevent and curtail Lassa fever.

According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Lassa fever has caused the death of 103 people between January to February.

The corps members also enlightened other residents of the community on precautions to take in preventing the endemic disease.

Lassa fever is reportedly transmitted when saliva, urine, and excreta of rats come into contact with humans. In some cases, it has similar symptoms as malaria.

The Agro-Allied CDS group went to the Iree market today. They sensitized a meat seller and other people on how to preserve their meats from rats to avoid Lassa fever.
