Corps Members Sensitize Ila-Orangun Residents On Right To Access Information


Corps members from the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Community Development Service (CDS) group have sensitized the people of Ila-Orangun on their basic rights to access information on Thursday, 13th February, 2020.

The sensitization exercise which was an eye-opener involved traders, market women, tailors, customers, shoe-makers and motorcycle riders at the Ìgbonnìbí Market Square located in the town.




The CDS group while doing the campaign educated the people on their rights to access information, as well as the right to take legal actions in court against any institution or organization that breaches the provisions of Freedom of Information Act 2011.



Meanwhile, the corps members also enlightened on the fundamental principles of disclosing information under FOIA Act, stating the importance to the Judiciary, Legislative and Executive arms of government.



The sensitization programme also featured a question and answer session where the opinions of the traders were  checked to ensure that corresponding information has been put across to members of the public.
