“Violence Against Women Is Not Tolerable, It Is An Act Of Felony”- Deputy Governor Alabi
The Deputy Governor of State of Osun, His excellency, Mr. Gboyega Alabi has charged the general public to eliminate the act of violence against women in the society.
The deputy governor stated this at the Peace Walk Procession which marked the celebration of the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Mr. Alabi in his speech emphasized on the importance of women in the society and their roles in national development, adding that the celebration was a way of preaching peace to the world.
According to him, Violence against women is not tolerable, it is a criminal act. It is felony. Therefore, it is punishable by law”.
The peace walk procession which was convened by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) CDS group, Osogbo Local Government in collaboration with the State of Osun Ministry of Women Affairs began from the Osun State Township Stadium to Nelson Mandela Park, Osogbo Osun State.
Meanwhile, the procession had in attendance of some special dignitaries including the Wife of the executive governor of State of Osun, Her excellency, Alh. Kafayat Oyetola, the Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Barr. Olubukola Olaboopo, Legislators of the State Assembly of the State of Osun, Directors and Staff of the Sustainable Development Goals State of Osun, Directors and Staff of Osun State Ministry of Women Affairs, Staff and Directors of O-Yes State of Osun.
