The NYSC Osun State Gender Desk Officer, Alhaja Kehinde Salawu delivered a sensitisation on gender equality and equity to platoon one to five members of the 2019 Batch C stream II orientation course in the multi purpose hall on Tuesday.
Alhaja Salawu enlightened the corps members on the importance of making both sexes have equal opportunities,privileges and roles in the society.
She further illustrated that gender discrimination in any form should not be encouraged. Moreso, she emphasized on the relationship between gender equality and gender equity and how gender equity cannot exist without gender equality.
Equally, she gave instances of important sectors in Nigeria having gender role issues such as; health, politics, education and labour. "Do not accommodate any form of gender discrimination in your place of primary assignment and the society at large” she asserted.
Correspondingly, Mr Olugbenga Fagbemi has enlightened corps members on servicom, and urged them to be found doing the right thing always even as they serve the nation.
He implored them to channel all complaints via the available channels, which includes; the face to face approach, the use of suggestion boxes, and telephone call lines.
Mr Fagbemi further advised the corps members to be careful of exploitation and extortion during their service period.
