Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, the timi of Ede land lectured the 2019 Batch C stream II corps members on the tradition and culture of the Yoruba in Osun State.
In his lecture at the multipurpose hall of the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Tuesday, His Majesty stated that culture and tradition guides the conduct of individuals as it passes from one generation to another.
Oba Munirudeen highlighted specific features of the Yoruba culture including the language, religion, clothing and general appearance of the Yorubas, language structure, music and dance, greetings and kinship in Yoruba culture.
He went further to emphasise that the Yoruba people are hospitable because " Yorubas take corps members as their sons and daughters". In view of that, he admonished corps members to contribute positively to the development of their host communities.
However, he advised corps members to conduct themselves well in any part of the state they will be posted to for their primary assignment and also encouraged them to be of good behaviour and respect the culture and taboos of the host communities.
Oba Adesola who came to the lecture with the palace drummers and dancers as entourage asked them to display manners of giving appraisals and paying homage to the custodian of culture and tradition. This act steered up an exciting moment for the corps members and officials as they joined the dance with excitement.
