Osogbo Students Rejoice as Corps Members Empower Them
The corps members belonging to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) CDS group Olorunda Local Government have engaged and positively impacted the students of Fakunle Unity High School, Osogbo, Osun State with entrepreneurial skills.
This came up when the corps members visited the school and taught them how to produce liquid soap, detailing the best materials and methods for making marketable liquid soap. Materials including nitrosol, antisol, caustic soda, soda ash, perfume to name a few were displayed before the students, then exposing them to step by step procedures for producing the soap commercially.
The vice president of the CDS group, Mr. Effiong in an interview with our correspondence disclosed that soap making is a lucrative business which young ones can venture into even as high school students. He said, “with N1000, you will get all the material you need to produce 5 litres of soap. Then, you will sell the product for at least N1500, thereby making a gain of at least N500”.
Meanwhile, one of the trainees, Ojo Omotola received a prize for being outstanding during one of the CDS group previous visit to the school.
In her remarks, the vice principal of the institution, Mrs Akinwale appreciated the corps members on behalf of the students and also encouraged the students to put into practice all they have learnt.
