Inter-platoon Sports Competition Kicks Off As Platoon 4 Thrashes Platoon 10 And 8*
The inter-platoon sports competition for the 2019 Batch C stream I was kick-started on Sunday 10th November, 2019 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
The event had in attendance the State Coordinator Mr. Ayodele Adegoke , the Camp Director, Mrs Obiageli Okpalifo, the Commandant, Lt S. B. Gora, the Head of Sports, Alh. Abdullahi Adamu and other principal camp officials.
The football and volleyball match was kicked off at exactly 4:30pm by the state coordinator Mr Ayodele Adegoke, after which the players were briefed by the official referee on the rules of the game and sportsmanship.
The players got the game underway too much excitement from spectators and before long the both teams were deep in the game with platoon 4 playing against platoon 10 and 8 in football and volleyball respectively. Platoon 4 soon leading 60-40% in ball possession and capitalising on their tactical superiority with a goal 5minutes to the end of the 1st half. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of platoon 4.
The second half saw platoon 10 stepping up their game to give their opponents a tough game as they tied in ball possession although they failed to capitalize ending the match with the final score at 1nil with platoon 4 the victors at full time.
For the volleyball, platoon 4 took an early lead. The 1st game ended with 25 to 17 with platoon 4 reaching game point. The second game ended in 20 to 25 in favour of platoon 8 bringing the major to 1-1. The final game ended 25-16 in favour of platoon 4 who won the match up with a final score of 2-1.
