The NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke has charged the over 2300 corps members deployed to Osun State for the 2019 Batch C stream I orientation course, to embrace skills acquisition and become wealth creators.
According to him, the sure way out of poverty and unemployment is skill acquisition. He further buttressed his assertion with copious examples from his wealth of experience as an officer of the NYSC.
Adegoke, in his opening address at the flag off ceremony of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme on Monday 11th November, 2019, enlightened the corps members on the history, objectives and some achievements of programme of the scheme.
Speaking earlier, Mrs. Femi-Ajayi Olufunmilayo, the head of SAED, also enjoined corps members to embrace skills acquisition in order to be self reliant in life. According to her, " as beautiful as your first degree is, you need to acquire skills in order to beat unemployment that has become a worrisome headache in our nation".
She further enlightened corps members on the different skills corps members can train in.
Highlights of the events include testimonials from serving corps members who engaged in both the in-camp and post-camp training of the programme, colourful display of finished products by corps members, among others.
