Leave the Rope, Embrace Hope- Red Cross moves Against Suicide

The Red Cross CDS group in Oshogbo Local Government has preached the message of hope to the general public in Oshogbo during the anti-suicide mass walk tagged “Say No To Suicide”. The mass walk had the corps members from the CDS group and other partners march through the streets of the town, sensitizing the people on the need to prevent suicide.
In the same vein, the objective of the campaign, was however to raise awareness and educate the general populace about the dangers of choosing to commit suicide during depression. While preaching the message, they emphasized on the need to speak out, and talk to someone when depressed, hence not making a suicide an option.
The president of the group, Miss ‘Bolaji Awojobi in her interview stated that depression frequently leads to suicide. She highlighted that, “dying is not the best option, it will never solve any problem rather than causing family and friends to be in sorrow and pain”.
She further stressed that the goal of the action is to show love and care for the depressed ones, and ensuring happiness becomes a priority for the general public.
In the meantime, a member of the group, Mr. Emmanuel Ozigi also hinted that speaking to someone is always the best action during depression. He disclosed that, “no matter what challenges you are facing in life, there is always a way out”.
