CORPS MEMBERS ARE POTENTIAL CORRUPTION FIGHTERS- Barr. Bukola
A leading legal practitioner, Barr. Bukola Onifade has charged the corps members that they are potential weapons in tackling corruption in the country. He mentioned this while receiving the members of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act CDS group of Osogbo Local Government in his office.
Bukola enlightened these corps members who came en masse on their roles and responsibilities in fighting corruption that has gripped the nation. He further sensitized them that fight against corruption must be all inclusive and citizen participatory.
He said, “every Nigerian must embrace the whistle blowing concept launched by the federal government for efficient accountability and integrity in government activities”.
Meanwhile, the lawyer congratulated the corps members for being an advocate of FOI Act in various communities, thereby exposing them to the formation, modus operandi as well as the legal aids accorded to the group.
In the same vein, Bukola also acknowledged the importance of information in establishing democracy. He hinted that, “information is the lifeblood of democracy; without adequate access to key information about government policies and programs, the citizens and legislatures would not make informed decisions, hence having corrupt
governments”.
