Coordinator, Staff, Corps Members Recommit To Uplifting NYSC In The State
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke and his team have recommitted themselves to uplifting the NYSC scheme in the State.
This recommitment since assuming duty as the 12th Chief Executive of the scheme in June, 2019, has prompted the State Coordinator, management, staff and corps members to embark on personal and collective projects as part of their cooperate social responsibility.
Recently, Adegoke and members of staff contributed towards the alleviation of the financial crunch caused by the delayed payment of salaries to the security officers attached to the secretariat.
Furthermore, joining in the various projects at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, which began since the time of his predecessor, Adegoke embarked on the renovation of dilapidated structures seeking to proffer a more lasting solution than just palliative ones which may sooner or later cry out for greater attention.
Members of staff in the State have also been highly commended by the previous and present administrations for their selflessness and humanitarianism and for also showing corps members the way to leaving a lasting footprint in the sands of time. They have embarked on series of spirited projects such as the donation of a generating set to the Muslim Corpers Association of Nigeria last year, beautification and renovation of camp officials' toilets and rooms making it 'homely' and most recently, contributing towards the Bus Project of the Nigerian Christian Corpers Fellowship in the State to ease the burden of conveying corps members staying with them in the lodge. Adegoke, further took it upon himself to see to the welfare and development of corps religious bodies by assisting them financially and otherwise. According to him, " the MCAN, NACC and NCCF have really been of great assistance to the scheme in the State through the provision of lodges and feeding to corps members and so must be encouraged to do more".
Equally, in the spirit of selfless service and that of uplifting the scheme in the State, corps members have been reawakened to the ideals of the community development service, which has led to a recommitment to personal and collective projects following in the footsteps of the state coordinator and staff of the scheme in the State.
Accordingly, corps members in Ejigbo Local Government Area comprising 2018 Batch 'C' and 2019 Batch 'A'and 'B' embarked on the construction of a massive shed to host corps members during their meetings at the local government. The corps members described the project as a milestone for them, for according to them, "we have succeeded in achieving what others couldn't and we have proved that much can be achieved when we work together ".
"The structure will shield corps members and staff of the council from the rain and sun whenever they are holding a meeting or any social engagement " they posited.
The State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke, who was represented at the commissioning of the structure at the Ejigbo Local Government Secretariat on Thursday 10th October, 2019, by the Head of CDS Branch, Mr Kayode Ola-Peters, lauded the local government inspector, Mr Adisa and the corps members who were the project executors for adding to the medal of excellence of the scheme in the State.
"You have all succeeded in uplifting the name of the scheme in the State by erecting such a beautiful edifice which will be seen and used by many generations of the scheme after you.
"our Director General, Brig. Gen. Shuiabu Ibrahim and our State Coordinator have succeeded in birthing a renewed thirst and passion for selfless service in both staff and corps members alike.
"we no longer ask what can the scheme or society do for us, but we rather ask what we can do to affect lives positively, thereby, uplifting the scheme in the state" he said.
Ola-Peters concluded by calling on corps members in other localities outside the State to emulate what corps members in the State especially Ejigbo local government have done as "life always has a way of rewarding selfless service" he added.
