Blow The Trumpet of Great Support for NYSC.... Adegoke urges Pressmen
The state Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke has urged Pressmen in the State to blow the trumpet of NYSC far and wide. He made the request while playing host to the Nigerian Union of Journalists at the NYSC Secretariat in Osogbo.
Adegoke noted that NYSC is a trailblazer and needs someone to showcase to the world what the scheme is doing, and this is where the press can come in.
He further urged the press men to synergize with NYSC in nation building and solicited for mutual support to strenghten the cord of existing relationship between the press and the scheme.
Adegoke described the pressmen as partners in progress and asked them not to hesitate to make enquires from the scheme whenever they come across any unconfirmed news on the social media .This according to him, will help to curb fake news which can bring untold damage to the reputation of the scheme.
Adegoke also intimated the Pressmen on the recent creation of six NYSC Area offices in six Geopolitical Zones by the Federal Government. He further hinted that the headquarter of the South West Zone is domiciled in Osogbo, Osun State.
He explained that the essence of the Area office is to coordinate the activities of the states in the zones and act as a liaison office between the headquarters and the states.
In his response, the chairman of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel in the State, Mr Ajibola Olaniyi assured the state coordinator of the Union's continued support to the scheme. He added that they are well informed about the objectives of the scheme and said the State coordinator should be rest assured of their cooperation at all times.
During the interactive session, the men of the press inquired of the welfare of the corps members in the state.
In his response, the NYSC boss stated that the scheme is a humane organization and places high premium on the welfare of staff and corps members.
He further noted that NYSC will not delay in involving appropriate authorities to prosecute those who default in the scheme's objectives.
