Ataoja Government High school Emerges Winner of Idea Pitch and Exhibition Competition
Ataoja Government High School, Oshogbo has emerged winner of the 2018 young innovators boot camp idea pitch and exhibition competition for secondary schools in Osogbo.
The competition which was organized by the NYSC Editorial board Osun state was held on the 28th of September 2019 at Osogbo Government High School in Oshogbo.
Miss Grace Abiola, the lead speaker for Ataoja Goverment High school, described their victory as unexpected, stating that that their innovation which was centered on one of the Sustainable development goals (SDGs) in Nigeria, that is Zero Hunger was motivated by the need to curb the increased Rate of hunger adding that the innovation was targetted at reducing food wastage and shortage.
The competition which had 5 schools in participation, that is Ataoja government high school, Olu-Omo groups of school, Osogbo government high school and Fakunle Unity high school showcased the identification of problems by each school , and the solutions for each problem.
The Project Coordinator, Mr Iyanuoluwa Aliu, appreciated the NYSC scheme for the privilege to organize such program in order to impact and bring out the best from the students. He also challenged the students to look beyond the competiton and seek ways to implement the projects in their communities.
Meanwhile, Miss Simisola Jibowo as part of educating the students on sustainable development goals stressed the importance of innovation in a community as this will aid in development. Miss Simisola Jibowo, therefore advised the participants to convert their ideas and innovations to solutions that will add value to their community as well as solve problems. She further implored that they utilize available resources, whether new or existing to bring about maximum output and social change in the community.
The occasion was graced by NYSC officials of the state, Mrs Katherine Otemuiwa the schedule officer of Editorial CDS, the Local government inspector of Olorunda LGA, Mr Dolapo Steve and Mr Olatunji Adeniyi, the local government inspector for Osogbo LGA.
Also in attendance was Ayokanmi Oyeyemi, Wiki master Ambassador Nigeria; Mr Adebowale Opaniru, Co-Founder, Lifepro Food Mills; Mr Gbenga Borokini, CEO, AeC Digitals; Mr Jefferson Ibim, Social Investor; and Miss Ofon Emmanuel, Femme Lead Africa, who graced the panel session, and spoke extensively on how to revamp the education sector in the State.
Highlights of the occassion featured the presentation of Certificates of Participation, awards to the winners of the competition, and also to the facilitators for gracing the occasion.
