YOUR RIGHT TO PUBLIC INFORMATION__ FOIA

On the 12th of September, 2019, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Vanguard CDS group of Olorunda Local Government, sensitized the local traders at the Old Garage Market on their right to Access Public information from public organizations.
This sensitization had Corp members of the CDS group disperse to various vendors at the market. The corp members reached out to various traders in the market and talked to them on their rights as citizens of the state and Nigeria.
The Group President, Mr. Olukunla AanuOluwapo Josiah, during his interview, said that the initiative was aimed at sensitizing the general public about their right to access public information from public organizations. He further stated that the sensitization initiative is to register in the minds of the traders, that they can be able to seek for help from learned individuals to be able to write and access funds from public organizations.
Speaking further on the initiative, was the vice president of the group, Miss Comfort Amadi, who stated that "Information is power". That the sensitization is to inform the traders, that despite their background, they still have the right to know how their funds; taxes they pay and the society is managed. She is positive that this initiative will yield result in the nearest future, as this sensitization is a seed sown.
