CINB SENSITIZES OSUN CORPS MEMBERS ON NON COMMUNICABLE DISEASES
The Christian Initiative for Nation Building (CINB) in collaboration with the Non Communicable Disease Alliance Nigeria and Nigerian Heart Foundation has on Wednesday 4th August 2019, sensitized the 2019 Batch B stream II corps members in the state of Osun on the concepts of Non-communicable diseases and the benefits of healthy living.
In a lecture, marking the 2019 Global Week for Action on Non-communicable Diseases, which took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede, the spokesperson, Dr. Samuel Adeniyi Oginni, appreciated the camp officials for the opportunity granted him to impact the youths.
Moving further, he explained the concept of non communicable diseases, while giving a statistical report of the population of Nigerians affected by these diseases. He then highlighted the types, classifications causes and effects on the nation's populace.
Speaking extensively on the causes of non-communicable diseases, Dr. Oginni advised the corps members against excessive usage of alcohol, unhealthy eating, lack of exercise and smoking amongst others.
Subsequently, he added a healthy lifestyle is paramount to prevent non communicable diseases and that although some of these diseases could be cured, it would be best to prevent them; hence, the need for the nation to be sensitized.
In conclusion, he advised the corps members on the need to abstain from acts that are detrimental to their health, as they tend to affect their life span. “Eat healthy and live healthy” he added.
