Reported by Morenikeji Oladeinde

The Federal Road Safety Corps Community Development Service CDS group held a sensitization and training programme for its members on Thursday, 18th of April, 2019 at the FRSC Head Offfice at Abeere in Osogbo, the Osun State Capital.

The sensitization aimed at enlightening the CDS members on the mission and practical objectives of the corp started with a demonstration on how to salute uniformed men and the conduct expected of a member of the Safety Corp.

President of the CDS group, Ikeka Redemption, gave a short introduction to intimate the attendees on the importance of the sensitization. He advised the members to effectively participate in the sensitization as its purpose is to effect changes and impact the society, not just for card attendance.

He entreated the members to pay serious attention to the activities of the group so that they would be able to represent the force anytime they are called upon.

The Route Commander, Mr G. B. Ogunrinde gave a brief training on the practical aspects and obligations of the corps citing practical examples from the road signs and safety procedures. He recommended books that should be read by members of the force in order to fully understand the duties of the corps. He also gave a description of the different ranks as well as the qualifications required to attain these ranks.

Citing various examples, He spoke at length on the benefits of serving with integrity in their various designation and how it secures posterity for them stressing that any form of bribery is against the ethics of the corps. When asked if members of the CDS group can obtain drivers license without going through the standard procedure, he replied that it is unethical for anyone to bypass the standard procedure and that he would denounce any act that does not recognize the standard procedure for obtaining the drivers license.

He further stressed that owning an expired drivers license is as good as not having a drivers license at all adding that in the event of losing your drivers license, the individual should report to the police station with a photocopy of the drivers license and swear an affidavit in court, after which he should come to the FRSC office with a photocopy of the drivers license to obtain a retrieval.
