ELEGBORO OF IJEBU-JESA ADVOCATES INTERTRIBAL MARRIAGES AMONG CORPS MEMBERS
HRM Oba(Engr) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye, Abikehin-Ekun, Agunsoye II, the Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa advocated for intertribal marriages among corps members serving in the state.
He made this advocacy while delivering the traditional lecture for the 2019 batch 'A' orientation course on Monday, 1st April at the Permanent Orientation Camp Ede.
During his speech, he stated that history has it that the gods descended from heaven and landed in Ile Ife. He added that Ijebu-Ijesha came to be when one of the sons of the king in Ile-Ife settled at a place now known as Ijebu-Ijesha which happens to be the name of their language.
Oba Agunsoye further added that the cultures of the Yoruba's are similar across the six Yoruba speaking states with only a few minor differences. "The dressing, dance steps, language, among others are similar", he said.
He therefore called on the members to feel free to marry from the Yoruba's as the people are loving, caring and very hospitable. He asserted that intertribal marriages will go a long way in bridging the divides caused by ethnic differences.
Oba Agunsoye encouraged corps members to engage in farming as this has always been our most priced possession and value as a nation and not petroleum. He also encouraged them to go into agriculture of all forms due to the rise in unemployment rate orchestrated by the improvement in technology.
He added that the people of Ijebu-Ijesha are hospitable and are willing to give corps members with good intention a place and land for farming as he also encouraged them to get married there.
He concluded by wishing every corps member a fruitful service year and showered royal blessings on the members.
