TECHNOLOGY- THE FUTURE?

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes especially in the Industry. In the same light, technology can also be defined as machinery and equipment developed from the application of specific knowledge.

It is a widely acknowledged fact that technology has taken a toll on us all positively, negatively too, with its impact felt on almost every sector of human endeavor. 

I would love to think that Technology has had more of positive impact on us than Negative. We see and appreciate Technology in our day-to-day lifestyle, in fact, I can arguably opine that Technology is the Lifestyle we live now. If you can access this article, then it is no doubt that technology has somehow taken a toll on you, because you must have acquired the skill and technical know-how on operating the Mobile phone or PC you are using to access this.

IMPACTS OF TECHNOLOGY ON HUMAN’S EXISTENCE

Like I have stated earlier, Technology has affected human existence both positively and Negatively. Here are few points on how Technology has affected human’s existence positively.

• HEALTH: Well, I will like to acknowledge the fact that our fore-fathers have cures to most of our health issues even way before the conception of Technology. Yet technology has helped in advancing our fore-fathers discovery into modern drugs with better hygiene. Also Technology has helped us invent machines for treating therapeutic ailments. Example are: X-ray scanners, MRI scanner, defibrillators etc.

Note: Negatively, we are more prone and exposed to hazardous substances that is detrimental to our health, causing cancers and the likes.

• EDUCATION: These days, I don’t have to travel overseas to obtain a certification on a particular discipline or course of study. All thanks to Technology.

• MARKETING (Finance): Unlike the olden days where the word “market” is defined by a specific location where buyers meet sellers. It’s a completely different case now as I can close a deal in the comfort of my home without having to physically meet the buyer or the seller as the case may be. Example of Marketing and Financial platforms are; Binance, Google, Facebook, Jumia, etc.

Note: Negatively, this has opened up opportunities for scammers to perpetrate and carry out their dubious acts.

• TRANSPORTATION AND INFORMATION: Imagine you travelling days or weeks on horses or donkeys, just to deliver or acquire a piece of information, how stressful! Thanks to Technology, you get every information you need within seconds or minutes of search, right there in your bed in your house…. How sweet. And in the case where you have to travel, even if you’ll have to travel to another continent or the outer space, you do that within hours, days or weeks with comfort. Only if you’re travelling to other planets where you might spend weeks or months on your sojourn.

Note: Higher risk of Accidents, e.g. Plane crash, Car Accidents, etc.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, we have seen just a glimpse of how technology has improved our lifestyle, making life easier, well, with the disadvantages it comes with. Consequently, its consoling to know that the ratio of positive impact of technology to its negative impact can be set as 80% positive and 20% negative.

Interestingly, even with the level of Technology in this age and generation, the evolution continues and more advanced technology is promised.
