MEDICAL EXPERT EDUCATES PCMs ON THE RISK OF DEHYDRATION
A medical expert with the OAUTH, Doctor Kameel Aramide has educated Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) on the risk of dehydration and the need to take water regularly during the orientation course.
He made this known while addressing the PCMs at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Friday.
While addressing them, he said that water is important as it regulates body temperature, aids digestion and helps to maximise physical exercise.
“Due to the change in weather and extraneous exercise, it's important that you drink water regularly” he added.
Speaking on daily water intake, Dr Kameel urged male PCMs to take at least 3.7 litres of water, and that the females should drink 2.7 litres daily.
As he concluded, he listed out risks of dehydration which are formation of kidney stones, constipation or indigestion, amongst others.
In related development, the Camp Director, Mrs Mary Adebesin told the PCMs that obedience should be their watchword throughout the orientation course, stating that all instructions should be obeyed to the letter.
She further urged them to take out time to study the NYSC publications given to them as it will help not to breach camp rules and regulations.
She commended them on their behaviour so far and encouraged them to maintain such till the end of the orientation course.
She reiterated that PCMs should be properly dressed, put on their identity cards at all times, and ensure to eat properly and maximise their time for resting.
Mr Aleshinloye Adeniyi, Head of SAED, intimated the PCMs on the SAED programme, teaching them the slogan, “SAED - Corps Members Creating Wealth.”
He listed the available skills under the programme, such as Agriculture, ICT, Power and Energy, Automobile, among others.
He concluded by advising PCMs to take advantage of the training as it will be of advantage to them and capable also of making them employers of labour.
