EXHIBIT DILIGENCE THROUGHOUT YOUR SERVICE YEAR, SHOKPEKA ADMONISHES PCMS
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka has admonished the prospective corps members of the 2021 Batch C stream II on the need to show diligence throughout their service year.
The briefing took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Sunday.
The State Coordinator began her speech by educating PCMs on what inspired the birthing of the scheme for the purposes of rehabilitation, reconstruction, reconciliation following the devastation that greeted the nation after thirty months Civil war that engulfed the nation between 1967 and 1970.
The best trained Nigerian youths have since the inception of the Scheme in 1973 been mobilised and saddled with the responsibilities of nation building.
She stated that instiling discipline, tolerance, respect for people's beliefs and religions, sense of brotherhood, team spirit, and self reliance in the graduate youths mobilised for the service year are key objectives of the scheme.
She highlighted the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC to be: Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service (CDS) and Winding up and Passing Out Parade (POP).
In conjunction with these, she emphasized on the importance of SAED and welcomed the PCMs to leverage on the opportunities that the programme offers to train in their chosen skills in order to become, proficient, entrepreneurs and self reliant.
She equally admonished them to ensure that they carry on with the training even after the Orientation Course so as to increase their proficiency and become masters in their fields.
While speaking, She sentisized the PCMs on the NYSC posting policy which specifies four major areas of national needs, namely: Education, Health, Agriculture and Infrastructure.
She reiterated on the fact that Posting and Relocation in NYSC are free and warned PCMs against lobbying or paying anyone for any of these services, since they are free.
Furthermore, she urged them to adhere strictly to the Orientation guidelines and ensure active participation in Meditation, Military drills. Swearing in rehearsals, SAED Trainings Lectures, Man o war and Social activities.
She equally urged them to stick to the COVID-19 protocols as prescribed by NCDC and expected of them by Management.
She enlightened them also on relocation, grounds under which it could be procured, namely : marital and health grounds.
She urged the members to take their health seriously and ensure they seek help when needed.
In her closing statement, she laid emphasis on the necessity of PCMs to make a mark during their service year. She urged them to take responsibility for their lives and ensure they do the right thing at the right. She congratulated them whilst encouraging them to do their best as Excellence in service pays.
She prayed for the PCMs wishing them a successful service year.
