Modernism as the bedrock of feminism

Feminism is the belief in full social, economic, and political equality for women. Feminism largely arose in response to traditions that restricted the rights of women, but feminist thought has global manifestations with the movement of modernism.

Modernism Is a movement reflecting a desire for the creation of new forms of art, philosophy, and social organization which is reflecting the newly emerging philosophy, idealogy and characters in reaction to the traditional ways of life which they considered outdated or obsolete. 

Feminism according to The Merriam-Webster dictionary is the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes and organized activity on behalf of womens rights and interests.

 There are plenty of misconceptions about the word feminism.It is strange in this 21st century to hear that there is so much confusion and hysteria surrounding the word feminist. For many, the word feminist has a negative connotation. 

So many persons sees feminists to be extremists who hate men or think they are better than men. Maybe there are women who hate men and think they are better than men, but when you look at the definition of the word, that is not feminism.

 Moreover, many people continue to live under the belief that men and women are already equal, causing a misunderstanding of what feminists are fighting for.

The word feminist is also naturally associated with women, but more people have been speaking out about the fact that men, too, can be feminists. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said, We shouldnt be afraid of the word feminist. Men and women should use it to describe themselves.

My perspective of what feminism means has become more than unshaven legs its an all-inclusive fight for equality as we work to break down the barriers of perceived gender roles and giving women the same rights, recognition, respect that men already receive.

The role of modernism in respect to Feminism. 

The movement which questions some culture and suggested the culture for peaceful existence and full realisation of every human person is now see as the barbaric reason for fight between the two sexes. Feminism is a dream empowered by mordenism. The dream is to bring normality to an extremely extreme interpretation of who and what a female child is. Below are the areas they really focus on child Labor; juxtaposing the rate at which Our girls are boys are allocated works, it is not doubt that our girls are Over laboured. No wonder our men makes our women slaves in the house. This idea of ladies doing all the works at home even when it is bulky while the male child relaxes. We are wrong in this dispensation.

Access to Inheritance: Their is a culture which says a girl child has no access to her parents property especially after death. 

Rape : The female child has been victim of this act simply because they are female and as such their consent do not matter when it comes to sex.

Sexual Harassments: What do we say bout female children who are molested in schools, churches, community etc. Our parents are not too sure of our safety especially when we develop some homones. This is one of the reasons why female children are dull compared to the male children.

Modernism did not fail to envisage the danger in the continuity of the above practices. Presently especially in Nigeria we now see the following acts since the ideology of the modernism aren't comprehended or welcome by some men in the society. 

Single parenting: Ill treatment from the misogynist has made made people to prefer getting their children through artificial insemination. This is to avoid the ill treatment lulled on women because of culturally definition of wife.

Divorce: a lot of divorces have taken place because of men inability to reason with the other sex. Even after modernism has attributed equity to social behaviours.

Lesbianism: ladies choosing to satisfying their sexual pleasure by themselves

Chaos : The brouhaha in the society is engineered on the basis of gender. Guys kill themselves all because of ladies, ladies treat misogynist with disgusting acts.

The goal of feminism is to destabilize the patriarchal norms entrenched in society that have led to gender inequality. Feminists seek to accomplish this goal through rejecting essentialism, philosophy, and universal truths in favor of embracing the differences that exist amongst women to demonstrate that not all women are the same. 

Modernism has helped us to realize that every human person has the right to be treated as human and not enslaving anyone based on culture or norms. 

Modernism has given though to an extent the privilege for self-realisation. We now see women in public places, workplaces, in the churches, mosques etc and the buried abilities of women has been infused into social-economic, political and cultural development etc

Some times I ask myself, 

How long are widows going to face the menace lulled on the because they are women?

How long would the female child persevere the ill treatment because of sex difference?

How long would the abilities of a female child be hidden or utilised?

What would have happened even to me if modernism has not found it's root in this era?

I will end this by saying, the role of modernism is pivotal and germane to the peaceful coexistence of humanity only if the other sex, man will understand with humility the goal of feminism.

I advocate for gender equity not equality.
