EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE PAYS - Shokpeka tells PCMs



The Osun State Coordinator has briefed the prospective corps members of the 2021 Batch C stream I on the cardinal programmes, objectives and vision of the NYSC scheme. 

The briefing took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp,Ede on Sunday.

The State Coordinator began her speech by educating PCMs on the objectives of the scheme which includes inculcating discipline in Youths, raising the moral tone of the Nigerian youth and contributing to the accelerated growth of the national economy.

She highlighted the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC to be: Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service (CDS) and Winding up and Passing Out Parade (POP).

While speaking, She sentisized the PCMs on the NYSC posting policy which specifies four major areas of our National needs. These are: Education, Health, Agriculture and Infrastructure. 

She reiterated on the fact that Postings and Relocations in NYSC are free and warned PCMs against lobbying or paying anybody for any of these.

Furthermore, she urged them to adhere strictly to the Orientation guidelines and ensure active participation in Military drills, meditation, Swearing in rehearsals, SAED lectures, Man o war and Social activities. She equally urged them to stick to the COVID-19 protocols as prescribed by NCDC and the scheme. 

Speaking on time management, she encouraged PCMs to be time conscious stating the stipulated time for activities in Camp. “Set your alarms to prepare yourself on time, you are youths and hence possess the agility and strength.”

She enlightened them also relocation, its types and the criteria for relocation under the two categories mentioned during the briefing namely : marital and health grounds. She urged the members to take their health seriously and ensure they seek help when needed. 

In her closing statement, she laid emphasis on PCMs traveling without the necessary authorization and enjoined them to obtain the permission of the appropriate authorities before travelling and urged them to desist from night travels and outings. She congratulated PCMs once again encouraging them to do their best while reminding them that Excellence in service pays. She prayed for the PCMs wishing them a successful service year.
