NCDC SENSITISES PCMS ON COVID-19 PREVENTION AND CONTROL
The representative of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on camp Dr. Ayoola Ademola has sensitised the 2021 Batch A stream II Prospective Corps Members on COVID-19 prevention and control.
He carried out the sensitization at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede on Thursday.
According to him, the Covid -19 Pandemic is a disease that has ravaged the world and is still causing a lot of damage to humanity across the globe.
Speaking further, he said that though our immune system has antibodies to fight viruses, it is still paramount to protect ourselves from getting infected and this we can do only if we commit to the observance of the COVID-19 safety measures.
He stressed on the need for everyone to present themselves for the COVID rapid diagnostic test including those who have been vaccinated. He added that those who have been vaccinated should also adhere to the protocols as they are likely to be reservoirs of the virus transmitting it to others as the vaccine only protects them and not others.
Furthermore, he explained the concept of "Reservoir". He said the reservoir is where infectious germs stay alive before infecting another person. He made mention of the fact that a reservoir could either be a human or a surface.
Going further, he suggested practical ways to prevent the spread of the virus in our every day practical lives by making use of alcohol based Sanitisers, correctly putting on of the nose masks, observing social distancing and regular washing of hands.
He encouraged PCMs to support the commission in creating awareness on the virus and on preventive measures even after the orientation course.
Earlier, the State Coordintor Mr Ayodele Adegoke has expressed the need to take the issues of COVID-19 seriously because it caused lots of damage to our world.
Again, he pleaded with all present to adhere to the stipulated rules and regulations guiding the prevention and control of the virus.
