Money or Love: the true happiness

 

A wise man once said to me “remember that your money won’t wake up one morning to say it doesn’t love you anymore” and it almost felt like no truer words had ever been spoken.

 But just as I was about to become the latest member the Money-Over-Everything crew, I heard a wise woman say “money is wonderful but it won’t curl up with you on a cold night”. 

I still held my wise man’s words in high esteem but it seemed this wise woman’s charge equally made sense. 

Hence the dilemma; money or love?... 

The paper chaser devotes so much time to his money hustle that he becomes oblivious to how lonely it can be at the top.

While it is perfectly normal to crave the finer things in life (which often come with hefty price tags), it is also human to crave emotional intimacy; the type you can’t find in Gucci stores. 

It wouldn’t take too long for our dear Mr. Paper-Chaser to find out there are some things you can’t put a price tag on.

Don’t get it twisted, Love Is A Beautiful Thing. If you won’t take my word for it then you need only consider how many tweets are tagged “God when?”

 Who could ever forget the #Assurance rave that swept through the Nigerian music scene in April of 2018? We all chorused along as OBO crooned “love is sweet o, when money enter love is sweeter” through our speakers. 

You need money to make Quality Time count, you need money to buy Gifts for your partner, you need money to perform certain Acts of Service and when you say ‘I love you’, you need money to support your Words of Affirmation.

 In case you missed it, those were four out of the five love languages known to man and money teams up with each to make them even... sweeter.
